Nipper Summer Sea/Beach training and New Nipper Trials have been rescheduled to start on Sunday June 8th 2025 from 12pm to 1:30pm at the Whitestrand Miltown Malbay training Centre. Please ensure you have registered your Nipper on clubzap Prior to arrival as only registered children can trail.

Note: Nippers who were new to the pool this year will have to trial again for the Sea/ Beach Season.

There will be a second trial for those who cannot attend on the 8th June, date and time to be confirmed which will be posted on the ClubZap chat group.
Training for June will then follow every Sunday while training in July and August will take place every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday thereafter.

Junior Nippers 8-11 years (Born 2014 - 2017)
The Munster Regional competition for Junior Nippers will take place in County Waterford on Saturday 09th August 2025 (beach to be confirmed)
Again this year there will be no National competition for Junior Nippers.
While the Junior Nipper training will be run in a competitive format the Junior Nipper Munster Regional competition will be a fun event with no individual event placings being recorded. All participants will receive a participation medal.
Attendance at the Junior Nipper Munster Regional competition is Mandatory for all Nippers. If your child will not be available for the competition dates outlined above then we would ask that you please do not take the place of another child who would be available to compete for their county as we have a limit on the number of competitors we are allowed to bring to the competition.
Senior Nippers 12-14 years (Born 2011 - 2013)
The Munster Regional competition for Senior Nippers will take place in County Waterford on Saturday 09th August (beach to be confirmed).
Attendance is Mandatory for all senior Nippers.
The National competition for Senior Nippers will take place on Saturday 16th August (location yet to be confirmed)
Attendance is Mandatory if your Nipper qualifies for the Nationals.

Nipper Sea/Beach training is not about teaching your child how to swim but rather, teaching your child Surf Lifesaving skills.
These skills are taught in a competitive format and all Nippers get to display skills gained at the Regional and National competitions.
Nipper membership is primarily dependent on:
1. Competitors being confident in the open water.
2. Competitors being able to swim front crawl with face mainly in the water breathing to the side.
· A Junior Nipper must be able to swim approx. 100m front crawl.
· A 12 year old Senior Nipper must be able to swim 200m front crawl.
· 13 & 14 year old Senior Nippers must be able to swim 300m front crawl.
3. Senior Nipper Competitors committing to competing for their club at the Regional and National competitions (if they qualify for the National competition)

To register – Download the ClubZap App. and follow Clare Water Safety.
Go to 'Clubhouse' (Bottom RHS) on the ClubZap App. and then into 'Membership'. From there choose ‘Renew Your Membership’ if you were a 2024 Summer Nipper or 'Become a NEW member' and select the 'Summer Surf Lifesaving Membership 2025 package and complete the registration.
Register all the family (Nipper, Junior, Senior, Master) in one go as there are discounts for multiple family members joining. The discount cannot be applied if family members are registered at different times.
14 year olds can train as both a Nipper and a Junior but should register only once, as a Nipper.
If your Nipper is new to Sea/Beach training, they can register but they must be assessed before commencing training. Assessment will take place on Sunday 8th June at 12pm at the Whitestrand, Miltown Malbay (Any registration fees paid will be refunded if your child is unable to complete the assessment). A second date for Assessment as mentioned above will be posted on the clubzap chat group. " Nipper Beach 2025"
Please, please, please do not bring your child for assessment unless you are fully confident that your child will pass the assessment. We would encourage you to bring your child to the sea before the assessment date to get them used to the conditions beforehand. It can be very disheartening for the child if they are unable to satisfactorily complete the assessment and can adversely affect their confidence in the sea.
