Hi all,
The Second and Final Trial for Nippers Summer Beach 2025 will take place on Saturday the 21st June 2025 at 5pm at Whitestrand beach Miltown Malbay.
Please ensure you have registered your Child on Clubzap before this date as only registered members will be permitted to trial.
(Any registration fees paid will be refunded if your child is unable to complete the assessment)

Please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand so you can sign in and allow time for your child to have their wetsuit on and ready to go in the water for 5pm. (please note booties and gloves are not permitted as they will impede your child's ability to swim properly)

Nipper Sea/Beach training is not about teaching your child how to swim but rather, teaching your child Surf Lifesaving skills.

Nipper membership is primarily dependent on:

1.     Competitors being confident in the open water.

2.     Competitors being able to swim front crawl with face mainly in the water breathing to the side.

·       A Junior Nipper must be able to swim approx. 100m front crawl.

·       A 12 year old Senior Nipper must be able to swim 200m front crawl.

·      13 & 14 year old Senior Nippers must be able to swim 300m front crawl.

3.     Nipper Competitors committing to competing for their club at the Regional and National competitions (if they qualify for the National competition)

Please, please, please do not bring your child for assessment unless you are fully confident that your child will pass the assessment.  We would encourage you to bring your child to the sea before the assessment date to get them used to the conditions beforehand. It can be very disheartening for the child if they are unable to satisfactorily complete the assessment and can adversely affect their confidence in the sea.

Go to 'Chat' on the ClubZap App. and tap the chat bubble (Bottom RHS). You can then request to join the 'Nipper Beach 2025' chat group.

Training info. with date, time and location of the next training session will be posted in the chat group. Late notice training changes due to weather conditions will also be posted here.
